Jumpstart Your Career
Dear Leader,
It’s a great week and I trust this letter meets you in pursuit of wisdom.
Do you really want to jumpstart your career? Do you know how to jumpstart your career?
Perhaps you are looking to land your first job out of school or you have experience but want to fine tune your leadership or professional skills or you are currently facing some sort of stagnation in your career or you are even new to an organisation and aspire to make a difference?
All of these are valid goals.
Regardless of your reason for wanting to improve or for even subscribing to my letters in the first instance, in the next few weeks I’ll be sharing some specifics on how to better your career and leadership from some of the insight I have picked on this journey.
Why?
Because the only way to make a positive impact and make the world a better place is to become a better version of yourself.
Human capital development is my core and I have been on this journey for over a decade. In fact, someone recently called me a Human capital evangelist (LOL) and I think I agree with him. I like to share with others what I have learnt, what I am learning and what can be, to help you become better, lead better and build better careers.
But I must confess, sometimes career or leadership related questions can be difficult to answer because it is “personal” but trust me it does not have to be overwhelming. So in the next few letters, I’ll try to make it less overwhelming and provide clear ideas, insights, steps and specific areas to help you develop in key aspects of your life, career and leadership. Some ideas may come in short messages, others may come laced in long stories but the goal is the same - to help you become a better version!
So what is the take away for the week?
No matter what job you hold today, take your focus off the job title and explore how to become a better version of yourself. Many of us are so fixated on what our job titles are and what the career ladder looks like and this mindset is really limiting our best version.
No matter where you are in your career and leadership today or what challenges you face, you have a choice to improve yourself and become a better version of yourself from this day forward.
That’s my letter for you this week.
I am rooting for you,
Great Owete
